Anglers looking for a first-class fishing experience in Devon need look no further than our four fishing lakes, nestled with the idyllic countryside. Exclusive to Cofton guests, our lakes boast challenging yet rewarding catches, however, should you wish to explore further afield, the wider South Devon area also offers a plethora of quality fishing lakes which are easily accessed from our park. Whether you’re new to fishing or have a lot of past experience, our lakes and the local spots are ideal for all anglers, with great external options including the Rackerhayes complex in Newton Abbot for all course fishing, Creedy lakes just outside Exeter for specimen carp fishing and Exeter angling association offering day tickets on most of its waters.
What are the different types of freshwater fishing at Cofton?
Angling for coarse fish can be relaxing and exhilarating in equal measure. The type of angling that you want to pursue with us will, to some degree, depend on the type of angler you are.
For many ‘pleasure anglers’ it’s all about relaxation and enjoying the experience of a good catch. However, if you’re a ‘match angler’, you may be looking to stay with us as part of a competitive angling group with weekly organised matches or to take part in the bi-annual Cofton Cup. The Cofton Cup is a fishing tournament that normally takes place over six days. The popular event sees scores of anglers join us to compete for the coveted Cofton Cup and prize money.
For those targeting big carp, we have our specimen lake with a good head of 20lb plus carp where you will find 14 purpose built gravel swims including a double swim. The lake holds a good stock of mirrors to 29.10, commons to 25.04 and ghost carp to 20.08.
Whether you’re targeting specimen carp, match fishing or pleasure fishing the opportunities for great catches in our lakes are endless.
