Community fundraising effort surpasses original target

We’re celebrating an incredible fundraising achievement after raising £14,011.91 for Rowcroft Hospice, surpassing the original £10,000 target set when the partnership first began.

The impressive total was raised through a variety of fundraising events and activities that brought together our team, guests and the local community in support of Rowcroft’s vital work across South Devon.

Throughout the year, our park has hosted a series of creative and engaging events designed to encourage community participation while raising money for a meaningful cause. Activities included a car wash, puppuccino stand, cake sale and a sponsored walk from Rowcroft Hospice to Cofton along the South West Coast Path. Our team also took part in the Torbay Half Marathon to help boost fundraising efforts.

Celebratory events played an important role too, with funds raised during our 50th anniversary fun day, popular Bingo Beats evenings, a stand at the Dawlish Carnival and a dog show held during the Cofton American Car Show weekend.

The fundraising campaign reflected the spirit of the partnership between our park and Rowcroft Hospice, which was created to support the hospice’s specialist care for people living with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Supporting the local community has always been central to our values. Alongside fundraising for Rowcroft Hospice, our family-run park proudly supports local sports teams, community initiatives and events such as the much-loved Dawlish Carnival.

Helen Scott, Director here at Cofton, said:

“When we launched our partnership with Rowcroft Hospice, we set ourselves a target of £10,000, so to have raised over £14,000 is something we are incredibly proud of. As a family-run business, supporting our local community is at the heart of everything we do. We’ve seen first-hand the difference Rowcroft makes to families across South Devon, and this was our way of giving something back. It’s been amazing to see our team, guests and local community come together and support such an important cause.”

Rowcroft Hospice relies heavily on donations and community fundraising to continue providing its specialist care services, both in patients’ homes and at its inpatient unit.

Lisa Whittaker, Corporate Fundraiser at Rowcroft Hospice, added:

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Cofton Holidays, as well as their guests and the wider community, for their fantastic support. It was a real pleasure to join the Cofton team on the walk along the South West Coast Path, which was such a special way to bring people together for this cause.

“To raise over £14,000 is an amazing achievement and will make a real difference to the patients and families we care for across South Devon. The incredible amount raised is enough to fund care for eight patients through our Hospice at Home team, enabling them to spend their final days in the comfort and peace of their own home, surrounded by loved ones and treasured belongings.

“Partnerships like this are vital in helping us continue to provide our services free of charge, and we’re so proud to be working together.”

The success of the partnership highlights the power of community-driven fundraising and our ongoing commitment to supporting local causes that make a lasting difference across South Devon.
