A summer bank holiday break is just the best… sandy toes on the beach with a rich Devon clotted cream ice cream in hand or crunching into fresh battered fish and chips from the comfort of your holiday home or even cosy cottage by the sea. Make the most of the extra day with the family and make it a long weekend filled with fun and relaxation, after all it is the last bank holiday break before Christmas (now that’s a scary thought!).

For the tribe that’s always busy, there’s a whole host of adventures to be had. But for those who want to achieve 100% relaxation chilling out on the beach, we’ve got the perfect bank holiday break in Devon with activities to suit your energy levels!

Paignton Zoo – there’s no better place for an adventure than one of the South West’s biggest tourist attractions. With over 2,000 creatures and six different animal habitats, you’ll struggle to find a better day out. Only a 40 minute drive away from your base at Cofton, we advise getting there as early as possible as there’s SO much to see and do. The park is completely family friendly and so educational that it will open your eyes and spark your imagination.

Dawlish Warren Beach – find your perfect place for relaxation on the renewed sands of Dawlish Warren beach. Re-awarded blue flag status this year and having recently undergone works to restore fresh sand to the beach, there’s never been a better time to splash in the sea and catch some rays laying out enjoying the soft warm sand. We’ve got everything you could possibly need for a beach day at our on site shop, so if you forget your flip flops – don’t panic, we’ve got it covered.

Amelia’s Pantry – Of course, all this exploring is going to work up an appetite. Devon is blessed with a huge variety of eateries, whether it’s the fresh fish from the world-famous Brixham fish market or the local beef we’ve sourced from just up the road in Crediton. We’re happy to be serving our guests proper, wholesome food that’s as local as we can possibly get!

Starcross to Exmouth Ferry – Nothing like a day out across the water with the salty air on your face! Hop on the local ferry from Starcross to Exmouth taking in the picturesque views on the River Exe, and when you arrive you’ll be able to take a walk along the long and winding sands of Exmouth beach. It’s the perfect spot for a cheeky ice cream or to let the kids blow off some steam. Departing hourly from Starcross train station, it’s the best way to travel! Check out their Facebook page for more details on the timetable, but don’t forget it’s a cash only service.

The Twerzels – On the 27th August we’ve got The Twerzels coming back to Cofton in what will be a barnstorming cider-swilling knees-up! A perfect way to round off the bank holiday weekend with a pint of scrumpy in hand and some proper live music. The atmosphere at Cofton is always brilliant for The Twerzels and we’re made up to be welcoming them back this year.

If you’ve not yet booked your bank holiday break, make sure you get in there quick as we’re very nearly full. See you back in your glorious corner of Devon very soon!
