With holidays in the UK more popular than ever and summer coming to a close, there’s no need to wait until next year to make the most of a break away. September through to Christmas is the time to explore the delights of crunchy autumn leaves and golden-hued sunsets, hearty pub food and uninterrupted family time.

Our cottage holidays at Cofton present the perfect opportunity to escape the everyday without sacrificing any of your favourite home comforts. If you’re not quite convinced, here are 6 reasons to take advantage of a cosy autumn cottage holiday this season.

#1 Indulge in a private, quality cottage break

We don’t scrimp on quality, so you can rest assured your escape will be comfortable in every way. Each stylish and modern country kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, hob and oven, and you don’t need to worry about feeling the autumnal chill as there’s central heating throughout too. Some of our cottages even come with hot tubs for if you want to add a touch of additional luxury to your quality cottage holiday.

Should you be blessed with clear skies, each cottage also has a private patio area with outdoor furniture, so an alfresco lunch is not out of the question. You could even opt for a barbecue!

No matter what delights you’ve experienced during the day, retiring back to one of our self-catering holiday cottages is a rewarding prospect, and once you’re snuggled up amongst the Egyptian cotton linen, you’re sure to enjoy a restful night’s sleep.

#2 Soak up some spectacular scenery

We couldn’t be more excited to share our incredible location with all our visitors, and our coast and country cottages are perfectly placed for you to take advantage of some of the best scenery Devon has to offer.

From listening to the waves crash upon the shore during a refreshing walk on the sand, to an adventure on two wheels exploring the woodland, you can do as much (or as little) as you please. If you’d rather just relax and not venture too far from your cottage, you can simply admire the views of the surrounding hillsides before heading to the on-site country pub for a fulfilling homecooked dinner.

#3 Just take a weekend out

If it’s a short break that takes your fancy – come on down. We offer 3-night holidays which will see you through from Friday to Sunday, providing an idyllic weekend cottage break for you and your loved ones. A weekend away offers just enough time to take a dip in the indoor pool and open up your pores in the sauna, explore the rugged and sandy coastline, play at the arcade and indulge in a pub lunch or two. There are of course plenty of other activities and events we organise that are perfect to entertain yourselves during a weekend cottage break, no matter how kind (or unkind) the autumnal weather.

#4 Your pets are welcome too

We know that sometimes a holiday isn’t the same without the entire family, pooches included. We also appreciate that our location is pretty spectacular, and dogs love the outdoors whether rain or shine. That’s why we have a selection of pet-friendly holiday cottages to ensure your autumn break is fully inclusive! It’s time to make some memories exploring the golden, red and brown footpath of fallen leaves through the woodland trails before retiring to your cosy cottage for a well-earned brew.

#5 Unrivalled peaceful relaxation

If your everyday life tilts towards hectic, you can come to our country cottages to enjoy all the peace and quiet you could possibly want. As self-catering cottages, you can if you wish just spend the week or weekend improving your cooking skills, reading, relaxing, and drinking prosecco in the hot tub – your very own private bolthole to unwind and de-stress.

If you’re travelling as a couple, Estuary View or The Linney are wonderful choices, both with private hot tubs.

#6 You don’t need to wait around, grab a last-minute cottage

If you’re tempted to either seek solace or make some new fun family memories during an autumn cottage escape, be sure to check out our range of last-minute holiday deals. Not only does it mean saving money on your next UK cottage break, but it also means you get to go sooner!
