WiFi Troubleshooting Tips
1. Connect to the WiFi network first
When you connect to the Cofton WiFi network, Cofton_Cloud, your device should receive an IP address first. The WiFi login page should then appear automatically, usually within around 10 seconds.
If the login page appears, this confirms your device has connected to our network, reached our router and can access the internet login system.
If you do not receive an IP address, or the login page does not appear after connecting, please report this to Reception so our team can help.
2. If the login page does not appear
If the login page does not open automatically, try opening your web browser and visiting a website. This can often trigger the login page.
If you previously selected an option such as “Use Without Internet”, “Stay Connected Without Internet” or similar, your device may not show the login page again. To fix this, go to your WiFi settings, select the Cofton WiFi network, Cofton_Cloud, and choose “Forget This Network”. Then reconnect and wait for the login page to appear.
3. Buying or using a WiFi voucher
You can buy a WiFi voucher from Reception, or pay online by clicking the credit card payment link on the WiFi login page.
If you have requested a free 3-hour trial from Reception, use the details provided to get connected. This can be useful when you first arrive, including if you need to connect to your electric meter.
4. Adding more devices to your account
Once you are logged in on one device, you can view your account details by visiting mywifiaccount.com from that logged-in device.
From there, you can check the status of your WiFi account and retrieve your voucher code, which can then be used to add other devices.
5. Turn off rotating or private IP / MAC address settings
Our WiFi system uses your device’s MAC address to recognise and remember each connected device. Many modern phones, tablets and laptops now use private, randomised or rotating addresses as a security feature.
To avoid connection issues, please make sure the Cofton WiFi network, Cofton_Cloud, is set to use a fixed device address rather than a rotating or randomised one.
On many devices, this setting can be found by going to:
Settings > WiFi > Select the Cofton WiFi network > Private Address / Randomised MAC / MAC Address Type
Then choose one of the following options if shown:
- Turn off Private WiFi Address
- Select Fixed instead of Rotating
- Select Phone MAC instead of Randomised MAC
- Disable Randomised MAC address for the Cofton WiFi network
The wording varies depending on your device, but the important point is to stop the device changing its network address each time it connects.
