What makes Autumn so appetising in Devon? Perhaps the tradition of harvesting lives on, with an abundance of produce, livestock and seafood all within touching distance, it shouldn’t be a surprise that us Devonians love indulging in delicious dining!

After all this talk of food, you’ll need to know what you can wash it down with! Abbfest is the best place to sample a sup of your new favourite foaming ales or crisp ciders. There’ll be over 200 beers and ciders, so it’s lucky this festival runs for 3 days (22nd – 24th September). Good news for designated drivers, free buses from Newton Abbot will be running. Newton Abbot itself is a short jaunt on the Number 2 bus from Cofton.

There’s no let-up in treats, as the Taste of the Teign Food and Drink Festival comes to town for the 25th September. Taking place in Teignmouth and around the Teign Estuary, dozens of events will take place and local restaurants will celebrate with special menus which embrace the fantastic local produce! From the mighty Teign mussel and oyster to Bishopsteignton wines and beers, there’s probably a few hidden gems that you’ve yet to discover!

Cookout at the Castle

The Powderham Food Festival (7 & 8th October) is not to be missed! What more of an excuse do you need to visit the grounds of the remarkable Powderham Castle and the historic deer park that its grounds are set on. This year, there’ll be over 130 artisan food and drink stalls. It really will be a feast fit for a king!

The Theatre of Smoke and Fire will be on red-hot form as they demonstrate alongside the ITV BBQ champ. Feeling the heat yet? No, then maybe you need to enter the Great Chilli Challenge. Can you handle the heat to be the last person standing? Powderham Castle is a short jaunt from Cofton and one for your diaries!

If the above hasn’t got your tummy rumbling in anticipation then our final event is the Dartmouth Food Festival (20th – 22nd October). The highly popular event sees over 20,000 foodies flock to the town every year as more than 100 South West producers showcase their mouth-wateringly delicious fares. There’s a packed line-up with many TV and Radio personalities, and esteemed chefs cooking up a storm! Does yummy food and drink, chef demonstrations, workshops, lively food debates, and all-round family fun sound like your cup of tea?
