Celebrating 50 Years of Unforgettable Holidays at Cofton

This year, we’re raising a glass (or maybe a gin!) to 50 incredible years of Cofton Holidays – and what a journey it’s been.

From a small family-run campsite with just 39 caravans on a working farm to one of Devon’s favourite 5-star holiday parks, Cofton has been welcoming generations of guests since 1975. Whether you’ve been visiting us for decades or are just discovering your Glorious Corner of Devon, this milestone is just as much yours to celebrate as it is ours.

Over the past five decades, the Jeffery family and our wonderful team have transformed Cofton into a place where memories are made – whether it’s teaching the kids to swim, enjoying peaceful fishing days by the lakes, soaking in the views from a hot tub lodge, or simply relaxing with loved ones under the Devon sun.

Here’s a look back at some of the highlights that helped shape the Cofton you know and love today:

A Journey Through the Years: 50 Years of Cofton

• 1975 – The Dream Begins: George and his brother Alf purchase Cofton Farm and open their first holiday park with 39 static caravans.
• 1976 – Growth Begins: Planning permission brings new layout and more caravans – and more families discovering the magic of Cofton.
• 1985 – Time to Splash: The outdoor pool, Swan Pub and on-site shop open, giving guests more reasons to stay and play.
• 1989 – New Views: Eastdon House is added to the park, offering stunning estuary views and Georgian charm.
• 1990 – Fishing Lakes Created: A peaceful angler’s haven begins to take shape – a project close to George Jeffery’s heart.
• 1995 – Farmhouse Charm: Original farm buildings are lovingly converted into cosy Cofton Cottages.
• 2000 – Make It Yours: The Four Seasons development introduces privately-owned holiday homes for loyal guests.
• 2013 – A Leisure Leap: Expansion of the indoor complex adds a larger entertainment space, pool, gym and café.
• 2015 – All-Year Holidays: Touring pitches are upgraded and the park opens year-round for the first time.
• 2017 – Greener Cofton: A new biomass plant marks a major step forward in sustainability.
• 2020 – Lodges with a View: Luxury lodges are introduced, many with hot tubs and dog-friendly options.
• 2022 – High Ropes & Pump Track: Adventure awaits with new outdoor activities for the whole family.
• 2023 – A Beauty Boost: The new Beauty Room opens, bringing spa-style relaxation just moments from your accommodation.
• 2024 – Big Group Getaways: Cofford Farmhouse and two beautiful apartments open for large families or group stays.
• 2025 – We Turn 50! And it’s time to celebrate with you.

Join the Celebration

To mark our golden year, we’ve launched a special Spirit of Cofton Gin – a handcrafted blend made in collaboration with a local artisan distillery, designed to capture the essence of Cofton in a bottle. You’ll find it on sale in our bars and restaurants or as a keepsake from the shop.

There’s also a packed calendar of themed weekends, new luxury lodges, fishing lake improvements, and a splash pad for the little ones – because no birthday is complete without something exciting for every age.
